Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine how texts from the Old Turkish period were transferred to today's textbooks, to evaluate the methods used in the transfer process, and to develop students' skills in understanding, analyzing and simplifying old texts. In addition, it is aimed to provide students with an academic and pedagogical perspective by addressing the difficulties encountered in transfers from historical Turkish dialects and translation techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Be able to recognize old Turkish texts and explain their features.
2   2. Learn the methods used in the translation of old Turkish texts into modern Turkish.
3   3. Gains the ability to interpret, analyze and simplify ancient texts.
4   4. Analyze linguistic transformations in transfers from Old Turkish.
5   5. Evaluates which adaptation and simplification techniques are used in the texts in the textbooks.
6   6. Interpret how ancient texts are used in today's textbooks and for what purposes they are transmitted.
7   7. Can produce solutions to problems encountered in the transfer process and make pedagogical adaptations.
