Course Objective

The aim of this course is to evaluate content, methodological, and pedagogical issues encountered in teaching contemporary history and to develop critical perspectives and solution strategies in these areas

1   1. Defines the scope of contemporary history and its main instructional challenges
2   2. Analyzes the sections devoted to contemporary history in the 2023 MEB curriculum
3   3. Critically evaluates how contemporary history topics are represented in textbooks
4   4. Discusses pedagogical difficulties in teaching contemporary history topics
5   5. Develops strategies for addressing current historical issues in the classroom
6   6. Applies principles of critical historical thinking and multiperspectivity to contemporary history instruction
