Course Objective

The aim of this course is to analyze the historical development of teacher training policies in Turkey, from the establishment of Darülmuallimin to the present day. The course enables students to understand the phases of transformation in teacher education institutions and the political, social, and pedagogical factors influencing these changes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can outline the main stages in the history of teacher training in Turkey.
2   Can analyze the changes during the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic.
3   Can discuss the social and political contexts of teacher training policies.
4   Can compare teacher education models across different periods.
5   Can develop a critical perspective on the current teacher training system.
