Course Objective |
To try to understand the relations between religion and the state in the modern world and to gain a competence to analyse the changes it brings about in the context of the relevant literature and to examine the history of developments in the world, the Turks, the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Türkiye. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
Weekly topics are evaluated together after being re-summarised by the lecturer in the light of the students' previous readings, and students are also encouraged (as far as possible) to make short presentations on a topic of their choice during the semester. Inductive and deductive scientific methods will be used. Statistics will also be evaluated |

Assessment Criteria |
40% midterm / homework, 60% final. Attendance to 70% of the lectures is compulsory. The instructor reserves the right to conduct practical exams. The grades from these exams will be added to the midterm and final exam grades. |
