Course Objective

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with native language acquisition processes, the difference between first and second language acquisition processes, foreign language learning, current approaches to language acquisition theories, etc. To ensure that they have knowledge and experience about the subject and to enable them to practice in the light of this information.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. The students who succeeded in this course will be able to explain the concept of language acquisition
2   2. understand the difference between language acquisition and language learning and language acquisition theories
3   3. determine the physical and mental characteristics that affect language acquisition
4   4. compare the language development of children with and without typical development
5   5. explain the processes of native language, second language and foreign language acquisition and learning
6   6. evaluate and suggest solutions regarding the factors that affect the language acquisition and development process
