Course Objective |
This course explores the function of narratological analysis in the appreciation of lifewriting narratives. By focusing on various modes of autobiographical discourse, the course examines how narrative components help configure narrative identities, and cultural agents. The students will also question the immanent ideology, aesthetic norms and power structures as reflected in autobiographies, memoirs and diaries. The course also considers the autobiographical turn in translation studies. Professional identity, competence, translator s decisions, multilingualism and migration will further be evaluated by the students with reference to translators autobiographies. |
