Course Objective

This course aims to teach the basic concepts of the "One Health" approach, which is based on the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health, and the applications of this approach in the field of health services. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to evaluate global health threats such as zoonotic diseases, climate change, and antibiotic resistance from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explains the basic principles of the One Health approach.
2   Evaluates the causes of the emergence of zoonotic diseases and their ways of spreading.
3   Analyzes the effects of environmental factors on public health.
4   Explains the precautions that can be taken against global health threats such as antibiotic resistance.
5   Understands the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation and can give examples at a basic level.
6   Analyzes health policies developed in line with the One Health approach and discusses the effects of these policies on human, animal and environmental health.
7   Develops the ability to analyze complex problems arising in the field of health with a holistic approach.
