Course Objective

Within the scope of this course; it is aimed for students to learn the fundamentals of genetics, the mechanisms of formation of genetic diseases, modern diagnostic methods, and current biotechnological applications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can explain the basic concepts of genetics and inheritance.
2   Explains the causes and mechanisms of genetic diseases.
3   Has knowledge about gene expression and genetic diagnostic methods.
4   Comprehends biotechnological approaches used in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases.
5   Can evaluate the relationship of current genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic applications with genetic diseases.

10 Diagnostic Methods of Genetic Diseases - Proteomic Technologies Methods for analyzing changes at the protein level, the role of proteomics in clinical diagnosis, and biomarker discovery

Assessment Criteria

The learning of fundamental concepts given in the lectures, associating of concepts, constructing relationship between cause and effect, interpreting on the questions through current knowledge, and evaluation of idea production will be carried out by midterms, final exam, active participation to the lecture, home works.
