Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable teacher candidates to discover the natural connections between mathematics and art disciplines at the primary school level; to provide them with the ability to enrich their teaching processes by integrating mathematical concepts with artistic activities at the primary school level. It is aimed for candidates to develop alternative ways of teaching mathematics through both creative thinking and visual narration, and to create permanent learning in students by combining aesthetic awareness with mathematical thinking.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify the natural connections between mathematics and art.
2   Express mathematical concepts (e.g. symmetry, pattern, ratio, shape, etc.) through artistic means.
3   Explain visual art activities by adapting them to primary school level mathematics teaching.
4   Apply creative drama, visual arts, and handicraft techniques that support mathematical thinking.
5   Develop artistic activity plans suitable for use in mathematics classes.
