Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable primary school teacher candidates to analyze primary and secondary school mathematics curricula from a holistic perspective; to contribute to the development of knowledge and awareness about the structure of the programs, learning areas, achievements, pedagogical approaches and evaluation approach; and to increase the competence of teacher candidates to interpret the curricula in a critical, comparative and practical manner.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the basic structures of primary and secondary school mathematics curriculum.
2   Analyze learning areas, achievements, and teaching approaches at the program level.
3   Compare primary and secondary school programs in terms of content, skills, and approaches.
4   Define the evaluation approach of programs and interpret it criticall.
5   Relate the achievements in the programs to practical teaching activities.
