Course Objective

At the primary school level, STEM education aims to develop children's scientific thinking skills from an early age, foster their sense of curiosity, support their creative problem-solving abilities, and enhance their interaction with technology. In this context, the course primarily aims to equip prospective teachers with the theoretical foundations of STEM education. Throughout this process, the theoretical background of various instructional approaches is explained in line with the course plan, with a focus on how these approaches can be integrated into classroom practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defines STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and explains how it can be implemented at the primary school level.
2   Understands the theoretical foundations of STEM education and discusses how they can be integrated into classroom practices.
3   Analyzes STEM instructional approaches and evaluates how these approaches can be reflected in the teaching process.
4   Designs activities that support students scientific thinking, curiosity, and creative problem-solving skills.
5   Prepares STEM-focused lesson plans and implements how these plans can be integrated into instructional strategies.
6   Identifies tools and technologies used in STEM education and explores how to use these tools effectively in educational processes.
7   Analyzes potential barriers to STEM education in primary schools and develops solution proposals.
