Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to ensure that classroom teacher candidates understand the concepts of fraction, ratio, decimal fraction, pattern, basic geometric shapes, space geometry and measurement at a conceptual level; to support them in analyzing the place, objectives and relationship of these topics in the primary school mathematics curriculum with teaching principles. In addition, it is aimed for teacher candidates to develop pedagogical skills to teach these mathematical contents effectively.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the relationship between the concepts of fraction, ratio, and decimal fraction.
2   Make applications related to the concept of pattern.
3   Recognize concepts related to basic plane geometry, space geometry, and geometric objects.
4   Explain the concept of measurement and basic units of measurement.
5   Evaluate the place, achievements, and connections of these topics in the primary school mathematics curriculum within the framework of teaching principles.
