Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable prospective primary school teachers to develop a positive attitude towards mathematics through popular mathematics books, to contribute to their awareness of the relationship between mathematical thinking and daily life, and to develop their skills in integrating these books into primary school teaching processes with a creative, critical and holistic approach.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explains the purposes and basic principles of mathematics teaching.
2   Evaluates the history of mathematics teaching comparatively in the context of Turkey and the world.
3   Explains the basic learning theories and strategies used in mathematics teaching.
4   Analyzes the primary school mathematics teaching program.
5   Explains how the concept of number develops in children.
6   Integrates mathematical thinking skills (problem solving, communication, representations, associations, reasoning, etc.) into the teaching process.
