Course Objective

To comprehend the relationship between the sense of sight and perspective image by giving information about the historical process of perspective, to introduce perspective drawing techniques and types. To know and apply the meaning of terms such as depth of field, space, point of view, horizon line, escape point, etc. related to perspective drawing. It is aimed to teach perspective techniques and to gain the ability of three-dimensional visual expression.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have knowledge about the historical process of perspective.
2   Explain the place and importance of perspective in the art of painting.
3   Knows the basic drawing techniques related to perspective.
4   Can make single escape, two escape and three escape perspective drawings.

Course Contents

1 Informing the students about the aim and objectives of the course.
2 Definition of perspective, basic concepts in perspective.
3 Historical development of perspective. Examination of application examples seen in the historical process.
4 Perspective types, classification of perspective methods and artistic perspective
5 Defining single escape point perspective, examining sample works, drawing and practice.
6 Various geometric shapes of single escape point perspective
7 Application of single escape point perspective on interior spaces / interiors (corridor, room, kitchen, workshop, ).
8 General Review, Course Assessment, Midterm Exam
9 Application of single escape point perspective on exterior spaces.
10 Defining the perspective with two escape points and analyzing it through sample works.
11 Application of perspective with two escape points through space
12 Application of perspective with two escape points on outdoor space
13 Aerial Perspective Examples
14 Aerial Perspective Examples
15 Final Exam
