Course Objective

To provide music teacher candidates with behaviors related to using their voice in a healthy, correct, beautiful and effective way in speaking and singing, and to gain educator competence in voice education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns the basic information to use his/her own voice naturally and healthily.
2   Learns basic information about the vocal system and voice physiology.
3   He/she understands the preliminary studies that prepare him/her for singing and learns to use diaphragmatic breathing in a controlled manner.
4   Learns the basic elements in the formation of correct and aesthetic voice.
5   Gains the basic knowledge needed to distinguish sound types and features.
6   Learns works from Turkish and world voice literature.
7   Acquires the habit of lifelong learning.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Technical studies to prepare for the course. Creating a document of the songs to be worked on throughout the semester and starting the Arie Antiche album.
2 Technical studies. Technical voice studies that include nuances and the application of nuance studies on songs.
3 Technical studies. Voice studies with long melodies and different syllables. Studies on selected songs.
4 Studies on using the technical skills gained in producing homogeneous and beautiful sound. Continuing to work on songs.
5 Studying technical studies and exam songs, identifying and eliminating deficiencies.
6 Piano accompaniment and memorization reinforcement exercises for exam-oriented songs.
7 General review, course evaluation, Midterm Exam.
8 Continuing to work on mezza di voce studies and songs.
9 Finding the natural position of vibrato in the voice. Applications aimed at perceiving the difference between vibrato and trill and swing.
10 Correct use of breath, use of vocals in the right places, using the voice in the resonance area, singing legato and staccato, attack and emphasis, register balance, nuances and control of vibrato techniques on songs.
11 Determining the exam songs and studying them in detail.
12 Technical studies, studying exam songs, identifying and eliminating deficiencies.
13 Technical studies, accompaniment to exam songs and memorization reinforcement studies.
14 Study week
15 End of term exam
