Course Objective

This course aims to help students understand the interaction between literature and cinema, analyze the transformations between the two disciplines in the context of genres and adaptations, and critically evaluate film adaptations of works from both Turkish and world literature.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can explain the fundamental relationships between literature and cinema.
2   Can analyze the concept of genre in both literary and cinematic contexts.
3   Can compare film adaptations of texts from different periods and geographies.
4   Can define adaptation theories with their key concepts.
5   Can evaluate cinematic adaptations of Turkish literary works within their cultural context.

Assessment Criteria

Students will be required to take a midterm exam and a final exam as part of the course. The format of these exams (written, multiple choice, etc.) will be announced to students by the instructor during the week prior to the exam week.
