Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the history of Turkish theater from traditional Turkish theater to the present day, as well as its main concepts, names, plays, and movements.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Divide Turkish theater into basic periods.
2   Understand the basic characteristics of traditional Turkish theater.
3   List prominent names and works in Turkish theater.
4   Analyze the relationship between Turkish culture, social structure, and Turkish theater.

Assessment Criteria

Students will be required to take a midterm exam and a final exam as part of the course. The format of these exams (written, multiple choice, etc.) will be announced to students by the instructor during the week prior to the exam week.
