Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the verse types, forms and aesthetic understanding in old Turkish literature and to ensure that students understand the structure and content characteristics of classical Turkish poetry. In addition, it is aimed to make text analysis by using information about the verse forms and types of students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To explain the concept and function of the verse in classical Turkish literature
2   To define classic verse forms (ghazal, kaside, mesnevi, etc.)
3   Analyzing the content and structure characteristics of verse types
4   To examine and interpret the texts written in different verse forms
5   Evaluating aesthetics and understanding of art in classical Turkish poetry
6   Classification of verse products according to the literary traditions of the period
7   Interpreting the place of old Turkish poetry in Islamic culture and art understanding
