Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the basic concepts and theories of text linguistics, to develop text analysis skills and to enable students to examine the structural and semantic features of oral and written texts with scientific methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Defines the basic concepts and theories of text linguistics.
2   2. Explain the difference between text and sentence.
3   3. Analyzes textual structure and textuality criteria.
4   4. Analyzes texts of different types using linguistic methods.
5   5. Evaluates the processes of text production and meaning.
6   6. Applies the concepts of cohesion and coherence.
7   7. Interpret the functional features and linguistic structure of text types.
