Course Objective

To introduce the literary communities, artists and works that emerged during the Second Constitutional Monarchy and the Republic Periods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to follow the process of simplification of National Literature in language and to recognize influential figures such as Ziya Gökalp, Ömer Seyfettin and Ali Canip.
2   To be able to evaluate the works of artists such as Halide Edip, Yakup Kadri, Reşat Nuri and Refik Halit, who represented the National Literature movement in prose. To be able to identify the contributions of the Syllabic Poets/Five Syllabics to our poetry.
3   To be able to realize the position and importance of Mehmet Âkif and Yahya Kemal, who acted independently, in our literature. To be able to understand the poetic understanding and poems of Ahmet Hamdi, Necip Fazıl, Ahmet Muhip and Cahit Sıtkı, who represent Pure Poetry.
4   To be able to evaluate the poetry of Yedi Meşale, Garip and Ikinci Yeni.
5   To be able to read important works of the writers of the period with pleasure
