Course Objective

The aim of this course is to scientifically examine issues such as student profile, teacher profile, language skills and textbooks regarding the learning and teaching of French as a foreign language, to teach basic concepts specific to the field, to demonstrate various language teaching methods currently used through in-class micro-applications and to provide information to students in this sense.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be aware of the problems of foreign language teaching and suggest solutions.
2   Examines the most recently published subject area textbooks from a critical perspective.
3   Produces short-term classroom activities.
4   Prepares and evaluates exam questions.
5   Accesses and benefits from all kinds of resources related to French teaching using information and communication technologies.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction of main printed resources and websites to be used in the course.
2 The place of French in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and private schools and program content.
3 A good language learner and instructor profile.
4 Introduction of French teaching (method) books published in the last ten years and examination of their preface information.
5 Examination of text types used in current method books.
6 Use of pictures in method books (images externes-internes).
7 Midterm Exam.
8 Examination of additional materials of method books (Teacher's Book, Workbook, audio and visual materials).
9 Exercise techniques used in teaching French.
10 Questioning exercises.
11 Teaching vocabulary with the micro teaching method.
12 In-class activities (vocabulary teaching).
13 In-class activities (grammar teaching).
14 In-class activities (grammar teaching).
15 Final Exam.
