Course Objective

The aim of this course is to make inferences by inductive and deductive methods and to comprehend the meaning between the lines; to be able to comprehend direct and indirect, literal and figurative meanings by analysing the information in the reading texts; to be able to express personal opinions on the read texts in short oral and written form; to understand the fact that the meaning of the reader and the meaning intended by the author may be different from each other.

1   Read for details and recognize the different text types
2   Draw inferences from the information provided
3   Adjust attentional starategies according to the materials being read
4   Receive the contrasting ideas from the writer s argument
5   Discuss the selected works of fiction(short story,novel and play) to master the main idea

The success of the student is determined by the grade to be obtained from the midterm and final exams of the course. Apart from this, there is no special evaluation criterion.
