Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide history teacher candidates to learn Turkish democracy history from Ottoman time to Turkish Rebuplic and developments in this period.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Discuss the concept of democracy.
2   Explain the basic transformation stages of Ottomanism thought.
3   Compare the basic features of constitutions in Turkish history.
4   Analyze the effects of military coups to democracy in history of Turkish Republic.
5   Comment on the developments for democracy in present-day Türkiye and in the world.
