Course Objective

Important people, institutions and events in the historical development of geography as a discipline from past to present, as well as research traditions, methods and philosophical paradigms/approaches that emerged in practice are examined.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gains knowledge about the development and change of geography in the world and in Turkey.
2   Explains the history, philosophy and scientific methods of geography.
3   Comprehends how to approach the paradigms of geography with a philosophical approach.
4   Make evaluations about the philosophy of geography.
