Course Objective

The aim of this course is to understand the motor development characteristics of preschool children, to learn the theoretical foundations of motor skill development, and to plan and implement developmentally appropriate movement activities.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the motor development characteristics of children aged 3-6 years.
2   Demonstrate knowledge of motor skills (locomotor, balance, object control).
3   Understand the basic principles of movement education.
4   Plan appropriate warm-up, main activities, and cool-down programs for preschool children.
5   Prepare and implement activities that support children's motor, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
6   Apply safety and organization principles during movement activities.

1 Introduction to Movement Education, key concepts
2 Introduction games and group communication activities.
3 Motor development characteristics of children aged 3-6.
4 Definition and importance of locomotor skills: Walking, running, jumping activities.
5 Development of balance and coordination Balance games and small obstacle courses.
6 Object control skills (ball, hoop, rope): Throwing, catching, and tossing activities.
7 Planning of movement activities: Preparation and implementation of a basic lesson plan.
8 General review, course evaluation, midterm exam
9 Phases of movement activities: warm-up, main activity, and cool-down.
10 Relationship between motor development and physical fitness: Balance, strength, and flexibility exercises.
11 Organization of movement areas and safety.
12 Social-emotional development through movement activities: Cooperation and teamwork games.
13 Adaptations for children with special needs: Designing and implementing differentiated activities.
14 Observation and evaluation in movement activities. Mini practices and feedback sessions.
15 Final Exam
