Course Objective

This course will enable participants to gain a full understanding of the importance of play in the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of children and will enable students to develop developmentally appropriate play activities, equipment and supplies.

1   Describe the importance and value of play for young children
2   Plan developmentally appropriate contexts and opportunities for play
3   Choose developmentally appropriate play activities for children
4   Understand the function of play in the development of children.
5   Choose and organize play activities and resources in accord with the principles of early childhood education.
