Course Objective

Learning definitions properties and areas of applications of main algebraic concepts; groups, rings and fields

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Conceptualising group and its properties, subgroups, cyclic groups. Being able to do proofs and exercises.
2   Permutations, symmetric groups.
3   Cosets, Lagrange theorem, proofs and exercises.
4   Group homeomorphisms, isomorphisms.
5   Conceptualising rings and its properties Being able to do applications of algebraic concepts. Polynomial rings.
6   Conceptualising field, Burnside theorem and its properties Being able to do applications of algebraic concepts.
