Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to develop their understanding of chemistry topics within the framework of the Secondary Chemistry Curriculum and to help them establish the relationship of chemistry courses with daily life and other disciplines. In addition, it is aimed to develop student-centred, participatory and inquisitive approaches in the teaching process in line with the New Education Model.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Analyses chemistry subjects in secondary chemistry curricula and evaluates the curricula.
2   Evaluates the learning objectives and learning outcomes in chemistry curricula and discusses how students can reach these outcomes.
3   Creates course content designs using student-centred learning strategies within the scope of the New Education Model.
4   Develops teaching processes that increase student participation by using active learning and problem solving methods in chemistry courses.
5   Applies inquiry-based teaching methods and cooperative learning strategies in chemistry courses.
6   Offers suggestions for updating chemistry curricula according to modern educational needs.

- Participation in 70% of the classes is compulsory. It is the student's responsibility to attend 70% of the courses during the semester.
- The instructor reserves the right to get various exercises done via individual or cooperative learning in the planned education and training period. The effect of the applications to be made in the evaluation process announced to students at the beginning of the academic year.
- Acts within the framework of the relevant regulation regarding unethical behaviours that may occur in classes and exams.
