Course Objective

The aim of this course to comprehend the contemporary teaching methods and technics used in physics education and to develop their ability to use them.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explaining the importance and aims of Science education.
2   Describing scientific literacy and to explain the characteristics of a scientifically literate person.
3   Explaining the characteristics of teaching methods that can be used in science education, and to explain the points to take into consideration when employing each one of them in a learning environment.
4   Understanding the importance of laboratuar practices in science education.
5   Categorizing the scientific process skills as basic skills, reasoning skills, and experimental skills, and to explain these special skills under this categories.
6   Developing teaching materials such as meaning analyses tables, concept maps, and concept webs which are used to perform more effective concept teaching.
7   Designing a learning environment to teach a science subject by using one or some teaching methods that has been taught, and to teach this science subject in his/her class as a micro-teaching practice.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The homeworks will be assessed by directly adding to the mid-term scores. The exam dates will be indicated in the lesson plan. As the exam dates become definite, the previously announced dates may change.

Assessment Criteria

The basic learning outcomes of course will be assessed by exams, homeworks, portfolios and projects.

It is obligated to continue to at least 70% of lessons .
Every trial to copying will be finalized with disciplinary proceedings.
The instructor has right to make quizzes. The scores obtained from quizzes will be directly added to exam scores.
