Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine measurement applications (such as TIMSS, PIRLS, PISA, TALIS, and ÖBBS) conducted at national and international levels that aim to gather information on student achievements, competencies, and the various factors influencing them, from multiple perspectives.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing the scope and purposes of measurement
2   Understanding the structure that proficiency tests measure and the taxonomy they are based on
3   Understanding the development process of tests that measure cognitive characteristics
4   Knowing the characteristics measured by surveys and scales, development processes and application conditions
5   Writing different types of question formats used in proficiency tests
6   Understanding the meaning of scores obtained from test applications and the feedback structure

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The homeworks will be assessed by directly adding to the mid-term scores. The exam dates will be indicated in the lesson plan. As the exam dates become definite, the previously announced dates may change.

Assessment Criteria

The basic learning outcomes of course will be assessed by exams, homeworks, portfolios and projects.

It is obligated to continue to at least 70% of lessons .
Every trial to copying will be finalized with disciplinary proceedings.
The instructor has right to make quizzes. The scores obtained from quizzes will be directly added to exam scores.
