Course Objective

The aim of this cours is to develop students' critical and analytical thinking skills; to enable them to understand and use different techniques for critical and analytical thinking; to provide the ability to solve real-life problems by thinking critically and analytically.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student explains the concepts of thinking skills, analytical thinking, critical thinking, qualified thinking and philosophical thinking.
2   The student knows the basic characteristics and criteria of critical and analytical thinking.
3   The student knows the stages of critical and analytical thinking.
4   The student understands the factors affecting critical and analytical thinking and its scope.
5   The student knows the barriers to critical and analytical thinking.

1 Basic concepts: Thinking skills, critical thinking, analytical thinking, qualified thinking, philosophical thinking, scientific thinking. Analytical reading and listening.
2 Basic characteristics, scope and criteria of critical thinking. Analytical writing.
3 Factors and obstacles affecting critical thinking. Sample studies on analytical and critical thinking.
4 Critical thinking techniques. Final exam.
5 Critical thinking techniques.
6 Critical reading and listening.
7 Midterm exam.
8 Critical writing.
9 Basic characteristics, scope and criteria of analytical thinking.
10 Analytical thinking techniques.
