Course Objective

The Creative Composition course aims to enhance students' creative thinking skills by encouraging them to engage in experimental practices with various materials and techniques to develop original surface designs. The course fosters an approach that transcends conventional design paradigms, guiding students to explore alternative perspectives on materiality and form.
Throughout the course, students will be introduced to both traditional and experimental techniques, including watercolor, gouache, pastel, acrylic, and dry painting methods, alongside relief effects, stencil printing, linocut printing, and surface abrasion techniques. Additionally, processes such as cutting, assembling, and surface interventions will be employed to help students discover the physical and aesthetic potential of materials. This approach enables a comprehensive analysis of fundamental design elements color, stain, and texture alongside design principles such as repetition, rhythm, and compositional balance.
This process not only enhances students' visual perception and aesthetic sensitivity but also enables them to identify and resolve formal challenges related to surface design. By integrating theoretical knowledge with experimental creativity, the course reinforces the dynamic interplay between art and design, fostering the development of students' original production methodologies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1..Students develop their creative thinking and experimental application skills by understanding the concept of Buluş Kompozisyon.
2   2.They comprehend color theory, color wheel, warm-cool colors, complementary and analogous color relationships, and apply them consciously in their designs.
3   3.They create balanced compositions by utilizing design elements such as color, stain, texture, repetition, and rhythm in textile surface design and explore alternative surface compositions.
4   4.They conduct experimental texture studies using various techniques such as watercolor, gouache, pastel, dry paint, ink, and acrylic paint, and discover alternative surface creation methods.
5   5.They perform experimental texture studies using linocut printing, monoprint, and relief techniques; explore repetition and rhythm relationships in surface design while creating depth and textural variety through high and low relief techniques.
6   6.They integrate painting, printing, cutting, and assembling techniques to create experimental surface designs; apply the learned techniques to individual projects with an experimental approach and develop original surface designs

1 .1. Introduction to the concept of Creative Composition General overview of creative thinking and experimental approaches. 11.Implementation of Relief Techniques for Experimental Texture Studies: Investigation of depth and surface variation through the use of relief techniques
2 2.Color Theories and Contrast Relations: Theoretical and practical studies on color theory, color wheel, warm-cool color schemes, complementary and analogous color relationships; exploration of contrast effects to establish visual balance and emphasis techniques. 12.Integration of Learned Techniques in Individual Projects: Application of all techniques learned throughout the course to develop student-centered individual design processes focusing on material, form, volume, and meaning relationships.
3 3.Fundamental Design Elements and Principles: Theoretical examination of color, stain, texture, repetition, rhythm, and compositional balance. Experimental applications using different materials and techniques to explore rhythm and repetition effects on surfaces. 13.Experimental Design Processes: Application of painting, printing, cutting, and assembly techniques to experimental design explorations.
4 4.Exploration of Experimental Painting Techniques: Application of various painting techniques (watercolor, gouache, pastel, dry brush, ecoline, acrylic) to create experimental textures. Investigation of surface effects through the combination of these techniques and the discovery of alternative texturing methods. 4.Project Evaluation and Presentation: Critical analysis of student projects, assessment of design processes, and discussions on exhibition methods.
5 5.Surface Design in Textiles: Investigation of alternative surface formation methods using various material combinations and mixed techniques. Experimental applications to explore the textural and visual potential of materials.
6 6. Experimental Application of Stencil Techniques: Examination of stencil techniques in surface design, emphasizing the relationship between repetition and rhythm, and exploring how stencil methods reveal material texture.
7 7.Surface Formation through Masking Techniques: Experimental application of masking techniques to analyze the effects of repetition and rhythm on surfaces.
8 8.Linocut Printing Technique: Investigation of repetition and rhythm principles in textile surface design through experimental applications of linocut printing.
9 9.Exploring Monochromatic Surface Design: Examination of repetition and rhythm relationships in monochrome surfaces through stencil and linocut printing techniques.
10 10.Experimental Texture Studies Using Relief Techniques: Application of high and low relief techniques to develop experimental surface textures.
