Course Objective

To introduce the technical characteristics of the piccolo and support students in developing core performance skills specific to the instrument, including embouchure, breath control, articulation, intonation, and register transitions. The course also aims to help students establish effective individual practice routines.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the structural and technical characteristics of the piccolo.
2   Produce correct sound using piccolo-specific embouchure and breathing techniques.
3   Maintain pitch and tone quality across different registers of the piccolo.
4   Execute a variety of articulation styles and dynamic levels with technical accuracy.
5   Can regularly practice technical exercises for piccolo (scales, arpeggios, long tones, etc.).

Main Source: From the Renaissance to the present day written pieces for the instrument in every musical forms either solo or (with) accompaniment, appropriate class level.
Supporting resources: Written, visual and auditory sources about composers, musical forms and playing styles which studied in the period. Also this pieces records creating by diffrent performers.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Hands-on repertoire studies, technical exercises, listening and analysis sessions, brief individual presentations and interpretative discussions, along with applied performance practices in simulated rehearsal settings.

Students should come to the lesson ready to play the works determined on the piano. There is a 70% attendance requirement for the course.
