Course Objective

1. To study and compare the molecular mechanisms of how cells of different tissues/organs respond to tissue damage or injury
2. To discuss strategies on how to repair or replace various tissues and organs to solve major clinical problems

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. To figure out the fundamental differences in regeneration processes throughout the animal kingdom
2   2. To understand the molecular mechanisms of vertebrate tissue regeneration
3   3. To be able to comment on the evolution of regenerative ability across the animal kingdom
4   4. To understand the relation between stem cells presence and regenerative ability in mammals
5   5. To understand the molecular mechanisms of stem cell maintenance
6   6. To unravel the potential of stem cells and their use in inducing regeneration/repair in regenerative medicine
7   7. To acquire the ability to access, present and discuss the knowledge on tissue repair and regeneration via scientific articles
