Course Objective

The objective of course to teach the purpose and basic concepts of heat treatment, to explain heat treatment types, application parameters and their relations with mechanical properties, to inform about errors related to heat treatment and to gain the ability to determine the correct heat treatment type.

1   To understand the purpose and fundamental principles of heat treatment
2   To have information about the heat treatments applied to metals and changes in the structure
3   To interpret the relationship between heat treatment and mechanical properties
4   To determine the correct heat treatment type and parameters
5   To interpret the defects caused by heat treatment
