Course Objective

This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the immune system by outlining its development, its main elements and effector functions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   become familiar with the cells and organs of the immune system

3   understand the key features of the innate and adaptive immune system
4   understand the key features humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity
5   become familiar with the genes, receptors, and effector molecules of the immune system
6   understand the characteristics of the initiation and execution of T and B cell responses
7   understand the key features of successful immune responses against pathogens and the self
