Course Objective

This course gains students the information for using internet, sending and receiving emails, using office programs such as word, excel, powerpoint.

1   To be able to describe the usage and importance of computer applications for the business life.
2   To be able to use word excel and powerpoint programs for professional writing and reports.
3   To be able to send and receive emails in professional life.
4   To be able to apply powerpoint knowledge to be able to prepare presentations in daily life

1 Basics of Computer Applications Getting to know the computer, keyboard typing techniques
2 Microsoft Office Word - I Different uses, creating files, menus (file, home, insert, design)
3 Microsoft Office Word - II Menus (layout and references, mailings, review, view)
4 Searching for academic articles related to tourism, APA Style rules, Preparing a CV and Petition Academic article search on the Web, APA style writing and referencing
5 Preparing CV Students create their own CVs
6 Microsoft Office PowerPoint - I Learning the menus, practical examples in class
7 Microsoft Office PowerPoint - II Preparing a presentation for a specific audience
8 Artificial Intelligence Applications Techniques for preparing presentations, videos, and visuals using different methods
9 Canva - I Getting to know the program, creating an account, types of design, selecting templates, practical examples in class
10 Canva - II Basic visual communication design and principles, uploading and creating visuals, practical applications in class
11 Microsoft Office Excel - I Introduction to Excel, menus
12 Microsoft Office Excel - II Excel for Calculations, practical examples in class
13 Microsoft Office Excel - III Excel For Tables, practical examples in class

Further Notes About Assessment Methods
1. Midterm Exam: Midterm exam encompasses the subjects covered in lectures as well as weekly assignments (40%)
2. Final Exam: The exam encompasses all the subjects covered throughout the semester, as well as in-class discussions, applications and case studies (60%)

Assessment Criteria

Exam papers will be evaluated regarding the level of understanding, as well as defining the causality between the basic concepts and issues of the lecture, ability of giving examples and analytical thought, and using relevant terminology.

1. It is obligatory to attend at least 70% of the classes
