Course Objective

To learn the laws and regulations of the tourism law of our country, to see the relations with international tourism law regulations and to examine these sources in terms of the results they will create in practice.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the basic tourism law concepts
2   To know the laws and regulations about tourism legislation
3   To be able to evaluate the results of application of the tourism law and regulations
4   To be able to compare the similarities and differences between tourizm law and regulations of our country and international regulations and and discuss with regards to their effects.
5   To be able to follow the up-to-date developments in tourism law

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Basic Concepts in Tourism Examination of fundamental tourism concepts, classifications, and industry terminology.
2 National and International Tourism Associations Overview of key tourism organizations and their roles in global and national tourism policies.
3 The Resources of Tourism Law Analysis of legal frameworks, international agreements, and national legislation governing tourism.
4 The Regulations in Tourism Sector in Türkiye Examination of Turkish tourism laws, regulations, and policies affecting the industry.
5 Incentives in Tourism Sector, Tourism Promotion Law numbered 2634 and the Legal Classification of the Accomodation Sector Review of tourism incentives, investment support, and legal classification of accommodation facilities.
6 Institutions giving Tourism Investment and Establishment authorization, the Transactions for applying for this kind of Authorization Document and the Regulation for the Tourism Investment Discussion on facility types eligible for tourism investment and required documentation processes.
7 Regulation about the relationship of the Tourism Establishments each other, with Ministry, and about the Customer Relations Analysis of legal frameworks governing interactions between tourism enterprises, authorities, and customers.
8 The Basics of Employing foreign employees in Tourism Establishments. Legal conditions and requirements for employing foreign nationals in the tourism sector.
9 Code of Travel Agencies numbered 1618 Examination of regulations governing travel agencies, their operations, and professional standards.

13 Regulations Regarding Consumer Rights in Tourism Law Examination of legal protections for consumers in tourism, including service standards and dispute resolution.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1.Midterm: Midterm consist of chapters in the syllabus and weekly homeworks (%40).
2. Final : Consists of all the chapters in the syllabus and students will be responsible from all case studies and discussions in the class (%60).

Attending at least 70 percent of lectures is mandatory. The instructor have the right to make practical examinations. Lecturers have the right to give homework. The students are subject to the principles of faculty teaching and examination principles.
