Course Objective

The course objective is to examine how codifications related to gender and body have retained their validity since the oldest belief systems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To analyze indirect constructs of superiority of masculinity in religious and mythologic systems;
2   To distinguish the passiveness attributed to nature as a feminine phenomenon and the activeness attributed to culture as a masculine phenomenon;
3   To distinguish the gender role patterns in mythical and biblical creations;
4   To analyze the body representations related to gender roles;
5   To distinguish the effects of archaic symbol systems on the current.
