Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide students how to trace business processes from quality perspective and bring the students in recent techniques of statistical quality control; to introduce students to new quality management
approaches and methodologies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to explain the significance of quality in business.
2   Have an understanding of the role of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) within broader contexts such as Total Quality Management (TQM) and Six Sigma.
3   Describe fundamental SQC tools and techniques, and discuss the circumstances under which it would be appropriate to apply each tool / technique.
4   Apply SQC tools and techniques.
5   Conduct an SQC study or project and interpret the results.
6   Demonstrate that they are a motivated, responsible, and productive citizen who will be an advocate for quality in business.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lecture
Lectures will cover the transfer of statistical quality control techniques and methodologies.

2. Groupwork
In-class assignments, homeworks, and case projects can be handled as a groupwork so that students can review the concepts and applications by discussing together and develop solutions

3. Presentations
Case project will be presented and discussed in the last week of the semester.
