Course Objective

This course aims to enable students to analyze the individual and group behaviour in an organizational setting, to explain and discuss dynamics related to organizational structure and social interaction process at organizations.

1 Introduction to the Course Organizational behaviour: Conceptual Framework An overview of the basic concepts, objectives, and scope of organizational behavior.
2 Work Historical turning points in work life Key historical and social transformations impacting work life from the Industrial Revolution to the present.
3 Individuals at organizations/ Perception at workplace Psychological processes influencing how individuals perceive environmental events and people.
4 Individuals at organizations/ Perceptional errors The effects of perception in organizations and the reasons behind individuals' perceptual errors.
5 Personality The structure of personality and personality theories
6 Personality and emotions at workplace The impact of personality traits on workplace behavior and the role of emotions
7 Motivation -1 The concept of motivation and fundamental theories guiding employees' behavior.
8 Motivation -2 Methods and practices used to enhance motivation in organizations.
9 Groups at organizations/ Foundations of group behaviour The structure, dynamics, and impact of group behavior on organizational processes.
10 Work groups and teams Building effective teams, managing work groups, and understanding team dynamics.
11 Leadership -1 The concept of leadership, leadership theories, and the leader's role in organizational processes.
12 Leadership -2 Situational leadership approaches and essential skills for effective leadership.
13 Organizational culture The formation, components, and influence of organizational culture on employees.
14 Power and politics Power dynamics, political behavior in organizations, and their impact on management.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1.Midterm: Midterm consist of chapters in the syllabus and weekly homeworks (%40).
2. Final : Consists of all the chapters in the syllabus and students will be responsible from all case studies and discussions in the class (%60).

Attending at least 70 percent of lectures is mandatory. The instructor have the right to make practical examinations. Lecturers have the right to give homework. The students are subject to the principles of faculty teaching and examination principles.
