Course Objective

To give information on nature of worship, different kinds of worship, and their roles on individual and social lives. To present the anatomy of religion by examining different rituals and practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students become aware of theoretical and practical sides of religious rituals.
2   Students learn their impact on individual and social life.
3   Students learn differences and their causes in religious life.
4   Students develop empathy towards different beliefs and practices.
5   Students become aware that religions are living and developing organisms not a statical ones.

1 The definitions and kinds of worship.
2 Rituals related with human life.
3 Periodical rituals.
4 Social and psychological roles of worship.
5 Human: as a manifestation or created by God
6 The concept of pilgrimage in different traditions.
7 The problem of theodicy.
8 Mid-term Exam
9 The concept of after-life and paradise in monotheistic religions. .
10 The ultimate salvation: the theory of Karma-rebirth.
11 The ways of salvation in religions: Asceticism and worship.
12 The ways of salvation in religions: Yoga and meditations.
13 Religion in modern world: religious pluralism and the problem of ultimate truth.
14 Future of religions.
