Course Objective

True experiments offer a powerful means to investigate causal relationships between variables. As such, experimental methods form a cornerstone of empirical investigation within many subdisciplines of psychology. This course addresses experimental design and analysis from both a conceptual and a practical point of view and it is designed to teach basic computer methods that are relevant to work in experimental psychology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learn the basic physiological, perceptual, and cognitive components of human learning and memory
2   Gain theoretical knowledge of and practical experience in the fundamental aspects of designing and implementing user interfaces.
3   Learn to analyze humancomputer interaction problems from a technical, cognitive, and functional perspective.
4   Develop an awareness of the range of general humancomputer interaction issues that must be considered when designing experimental research designs.
5   Know and have practiced a variety of simple methods for creating user interface.
