Course Objective

To make clear that sociology is a kind of engagement of being historical and tending to be historical. The main interest of historical sociology and the main works within this field will be considered in order to provide examples of both Western and non-Western historical sociology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to understand the relation between history and sociology 2   Being able to understand that our sociological questions are inevitably historical 3   Being able to understand the theorists of historical sociology 4   Being able to understand the importance of historical sociology for present time 5   Being able to learn how to ask questions about social structures and processes which are settled corporally in space and time
