Course Objective

Students taking this course; To be able to explain the emergence of changing family and family types in the changing social structure; It is aimed to comparatively evaluate the theoretical approaches related to family studies, to interpret family structures in Turkish and Western European societies comparatively, to analyze the changes in the family institution sociologically, to predict the effects of cultural, socio-economic, technological innovations and transformations on women and family life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to look at the subject from a sociology perspective by distinguishing the changing social structure as a social reality and the visible forms of the family structure changing in parallel with this.
2   Will gain the ability to analyze sociologically by seeing the relationships caused by social change and family reflections as a social problem.
3   Will gain the ability to interpret the changing family relations within the framework of theories and theorists within the framework of social change theories, and will be able to look critically.
4   Will gain scientific competence about family structure and enlightenment of emerging problems, which is one of the reflection areas of changing social structure.
5   Understand and explain social change, change in family structure and relationships, basic social problems created by this change, family researches, and develop research projects, perspectives and concepts that will base them with a scientific point of view and gain scientific competence.
