Course Objective

The objective of this course is to illustrate how mythic constellations and mythical motifs evolved, were adapted and suited to the Zeitgeist throughout literary history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To distinguish myths, mythic constellations and motifs,
2   To analyze the intention of the author by examining his/her way of representing myths, mythic constellations and motifs in literary works,
3   To distinguish the utilization of myths in literary movements,
4   To assess the popularity of particular myths by means of cultural history,
5   To classify literary works within literary history on the basis of the way they utilize myths.
