Course Objective

In the course, it is aimed: (1) to be able to identify non-destructively using the
scientific techniques of rough and/or cut and polished gemstones and also jewels
mounted with gems or not (which they are obtained by archaeological excavation,
confiscated by police and gendarmerie forces, or bought from collectors) in the museums
of Türkiye and/or World. Ultimately, in order to note correctly the variety and species
of these materials in the excavation inventory papers. (2) to be able to identify
whether or not they are artefacts of the ancient periods or are contemporary products
after reported by scientific gemmological methods of the gems and jewelry confiscated
by police and gendarmerie forces. Ultimately, to be able to judge the crime is smuggled
of the historical artefacts or of the contemporary yields. 3.) to be able to serve as
an expertise for the preventing forgery, being able to distinguish the ancient
artefacts and contemporary products of rough and/or cut and polished gemstones and also
jewels mounted with gems or not, which they are currently deposited in the
archaeological museums.

Yarıyıl içi ve yarıyıl sonu sınavları çoktan seçmeli sorular üzerinden öğretici
yöntemle yapılır.

2. Yarıyıl Içi Araştırma Ödevi %10 (ÖÇ4, ÖÇ5)

Assessment Criteria

It will be evaluated theoretical mid exam, presentation of assignment and homework
research, project, and final exam as well as 5 of course learning outcomes.

Course Policies and Rules

All students must attend to the conducted courses with at least 70%. During the course
and in the exams, all kind of making a copy are evaluated comprising a discipline
crime.
