Course Objective

This course aims to study the process that starts with Enlightened Humanism and extends to to post- and trans-humanism. In the context of mind-body dichotomy, we will analyse the problem of human nature within the contemporary post-humanism discussions. In this respect, exploring the ethical and political implications of posthumanism will also be within the course scope.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to understand the main concepts of Humanism
2   to understand the main ideas and critiques of post-humanism
3   to examine the political implications of conceptions on human nature
4   to develop students skills of critical reading.
5   to employ the theoretical perspective to analyze the texts on humanism and posthumanism.
