Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine recent theoretical and empirical issues in industrial and organizational psychology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to define basic concepts of industrial and organizational psychology on the basis of social psychology.
2   Being able to explain contemporary theories and models of industrial and organizational psychology.
3   Being able to give examples recent research in industrial and organizational psychology.
4   Being able to describe the importance of research in industrial and organizational psychology for different subfields of psychology.
5   Being able to pursue and contribute to current research in industrial and organizational psychology.
6   Being able to follow current methods in areas such as job and performance analysis, selection and evaluation, and employee motivation.

Midterm, Term Paper, Presentations and Final Exam

Assessment Criteria

1. LO 1-2: They will be evaluated by questions in the midterm examination.
2. LO 3-6: Students will come to each week s class having read the assigned readings and will hold a class discussion on the topic of the week
3. Students will write up a review paper on an I/O topic of their choice.
4. Students will present and discuss readings assigned each week, and will also make a presentation of their term projects in the last two weeks.
