Course Objective

The objective of the course is to provide learners the study of the influences on and consequences of social interaction. It includes the relationships between the individual and other persons or groups of people; a survey of theory and research in social psychology; the development of the self or identity; the individual as a social actor; influences on behavior such as attitudes, social influence and persuasion, and social motives such as aggression and altruism; detailed analysis of social interaction; processes which occur in groups, including conformity, productivity and leadership. The course concludes with a consideration of links between the individual and the society and phenomena such as status attainment, social influences on health, and deviant behavior.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the complexity of theories, methods, and topical subject matter of social psychology in order to analyze behavior of people,
2   Analysis of assumptions, theories, methods and basic findings of classical and contemporary research on formation of attitudes and change, individuals perception of others , liking and disliking one another, the dynamics of group behavior, causes of aggressive behavior,
3   Develop a scientific attitude toward perceiving situations involving social interaction and the effects on people,
4   Develop the ability to examine how that research applies to evey day lives,
5   Demonstrate high communication skills in presenting an analysis.

Assessment Criteria

1. Assigned readings there will be two long essay examinations in the class; midterm and final exams, based on understanding synthesis and evaluation of the material discussed in class.
2. Laboratory component, consisting of several exercises; each requires to collect data or assess information relevant to various topics in social psychology
3. Each student will prepare and conduct an analysis of a specified number of peer-reviewed journal articles and/or books according to a pre-designated schedule.
4. Presentations will be assessed on preparation, understanding, knowledge, capacity to structure, oral communication skills, ability to respond to questions and manage discussion.

1) Facts/Summary/of Case: Aspects, features of the background of the case, consider the facts, unique perspectives, (10 Points)
